FAQ: Suzuki: GSX-R1000 (2005-2006)

  1. What is the clutch stack height for an 01-04 GSX-R1000 when I remove a plate to make 8 steels and 8 fibers? I installed a clutch cushion for the back dated clutch on my 06 and have some OEM thick, thin steels, and fibers.
  2. I am currently racing a 2006 GSXR 1000. If I lower the bike will my ET come down?
  3. I have installed the Ultra Clutch Mod, and at first it seemed like the clutch was engaging at the half way point of clutch lever, but after a couple of hard launches it seems to be engaging more towards the almost full out. How do I set the clutch at the adjuster and know its right?
  4. I have a 2006 GSX-R1000 and it has the 04 clutch (5 springs) with the stiff blue springs in it. Can I purchase the yellow 05/06 springs and put them in to make the clutch lever softer, because the blue ones are very stiff. Just want to know if it fits before I order them.
  5. My Suzuki misses and stalls abruptly when I pull the clutch lever in. Do I need a Map, or is my Power Commander bad?
  6. What are the expected gains going from stock everything to a Brock’s Full Exhaust and PCV with Map in a GSX-R1000? I know there are a few more factors involved in this equation but I would like rough estimate. Thanks

  8. Why has my FI light started coming on when the bike is decelerating? I cut the wires at the pressure switch for the clutch.
  9. I installed your ultra clutch mod and yellow springs. Now, when I am on the line can I just dump it (does it drag or slip by itself and then bite) or do I still have to drag it? Is there more than one way of setting the clutch? I saw something about washers behind the springs? I am running 14-46 gearing and trying to keep the front end down through the end of first. I have a GSX-R1000 that’s lowered and strapped with weights.

  13. I was just wondering what your thoughts (pros & cons) were on using a TRE on a 2005 GSX-R1000. Does it require different mapping and what rpm range does it help?
  14. I have an 06 GSXR 1000 with the clutch mod, all 6 yellow HD springs, and I have a .050 washer behind each spring. My gearing is a 16/43. The clutches hold the power (170mph plus in testing last weekend) but I’m having trouble launching the bike. I have heard that I have too much spring pressure, but if I take the washers out from behind my springs the clutches slip in high gears. I have also heard to try putting stock gearing on the bike and leave at a really high rpm so that the clutches have to slip on the low end but they will catch up and grab about 60ft out. The bike is 64″ and I weigh 165.
