Jeremy Toye Wins Pikes Peak Hill Climb on BST Carbon Fiber Wheels

The 92nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb took place this past weekend. As the second-oldest motorsports event in all of North America (behind the famed Indy 500) the history list is quite extensive. The uphill course consists of 156 turns and a total ascent of 5,000ft to the top of the mountain’s 14,110ft peak. Ascending the mountain under race conditions is more than a daunting task for even the most seasoned veterans.

So it came as quite the surprise to most to see rookie Jeremy Toye come out on top and win the Motorcycle open class in just his first attempt at Pikes Peak. Using the word “rookie” in the same sentence as Jeremy Toye certainly isn’t commonplace as Toye has a storied history of road racing success over his career. Toye bested the two-wheel field with a finishing time of 9:58.687 becoming just the third motorcycle racer to finish the course in less than ten minutes. Narrowly missing the outright motorcycle record by less than six seconds, Toye’s performance not only placed him at the top of the field, but also won him the prestigious Rookie Of The Year and King Of The Mountain awards.

When asked about competing at Pikes Peak for the first time and what kind of expectations he had, Jeremy had this to say; “I’d be lying if I told you we didn’t have intentions of competing with the best when we first put this all star team together. Once we had our first practice session under our belts I knew we could definitely hang with the top of the field. I had a great group of supporting sponsors and an absolute killer bike.” Toye went on to say, “I actually didn’t think I had a good run on Sunday and was pretty upset at first. That is until the timers found me after the run to congratulate me and hand me an official PPIHC flag.”

While everything leading up to the big race weekend went smoothly, Friday of the race was a somewhat different story. During his qualifying run Toye was working his way through the fastest part of the course known as “Picnic Grounds” and had an unfortunate turn of events which resulted in a crash, ending his day and qualifying pass.

Toye was able to brush himself off with only minor scrapes and bruises as he and his team worked hard to get the bike prepared for the big event on Sunday. The mighty Kawasaki ZX-10R was back up and ready to run the tables on Sunday, clad with a fresh set of Pirelli’s on the Brock’s Performance supplied BST Carbon Fiber wheels.

There were many skeptics along the way that said Jeremy and his team couldn’t accomplish their goals with a “small” 1000cc bike, let alone a supersport platform. Focusing on weight savings it was imperative for Toye to traverse the course on BST carbon fiber wheels, so he gave Brock’s Performance a call.
