In 2002 Kent Stotz took his 4th championship with a win in the AMA Prostar Streetbike Shootout class aboard his Honda Rider’s Club of America sponsored turbocharged CBR1100XX.
However, since then the turbo Hayabusa’s have wreaked havoc and dominated the class for over a decade. But this weekend changed all that. Kent’s son Frankie Stotz relit the torch and took a championship finish in the NHDRO Pro Street class on his American Honda CBR1000RR with BST Carbon Fiber Wheels.
This championship was a long time coming for Frankie who started riding in 2007 and took over full time riding duties in 2009. In 2011, Frankie was the first DOT legal Turbo Pro Street Bike to break into the sixes with a 6.98. That’s right, the Stotz Racing little CBR1000RR did what no other big bore turbo Hayabusa or ZX-14 had done yet.
Frankie continued setting records and winning events finishing in the top 5 of points year after year. In 2016 tragedy struck the team when Frankie was hit by a drunk driver causing head trauma, facial fractures and severe injuries to his left arm that he still battles with till this day. But Frankie wasn’t deterred by this significant setback.
Halfway in the 2017 racing season, Frankie started getting his groove back, and the wins started rolling in again. And with that, a grudge bike was added to the team to allow them to attend more events. So now, when Stotz Racing rolls out their two Honda drag bikes at a track, people stop and take notice. Their bikes are a total stand out in a sea of Hayabusas. And once you see one fly down the track, you will never forget these Hondas.
Frankie Stotz Blisters to a new 6.67 career record in XDA Pro Street
But the season doesn’t end with this championship; they still have another big event in November where they hope to set another record to finish out the year. The next milestone in Pro Street is a 6.5x ET. And in September Frankie ran 6.67 at the XDA Fall Nationals, they are looking to improve on that ET in three weeks at the Man Cup World Finals.
Available for 175 sportbikes, sport-tourers and cruisers from a dozen American, European and Japanese brands, all BST wheels are constructed in a one-piece, monocoque design and utilize carbon fiber strands woven in a unidirectional format, embedded in a resin matrix, cured in a high-pressure autoclave at 250 degrees and coated with a high-gloss finish. So what are you waiting for? Get the wheels you’ve always wanted for your bike today!
Weighing between 40 and 60 percent less than OEM wheels, BST wheels bestow sportbikes with sharper corner-carving abilities, faster acceleration, and quicker braking by weighing less than their production-bike counterparts. Lighter wheels are also easier for suspension systems to control over bumps and irregular surfaces, yielding more traction and unimpeded acceleration. Less rotating mass also equals less rider fatigue.
