Lucas Mahias wins at Magny Cours in the World Supersport Race riding the Kawasaki ZX-6RR tuned by the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Team utilizing a Sprint Filter P08F1-85 air filter.
Sunny skies and a dry track at the Nevers Magny-Cours racetrack in France for the tenth race of the Supersport world championship. In yesterday’s Superpole the two Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders, the French Lucas Mahias and the Japanese Hikari Okubo had respectively finished fifth and seventh. Mahias took off from the second row and Okubo from the third.
Both were shooting well when the red light went out, but an accident at the first corner caused the race to stop with the red flag. New starting procedure and the race resumed after a few minutes reduced to 12 of the 19 scheduled laps.
Mahias shot well enough on the second route and held the fifth position in the leading group. From the fourth round he began his climb to the top and in the seventh he was in charge. Once in the head Lucas increased his pace and only Vinales managed and kept his wheel. In the penultimate lap the Spaniard was leading but in the last corners of the race Mahias was able to overtake him and to cross the finish line first. A great success for the French driver, obtained right in front of his audience that applauded him for a long time!
“There were many unknowns for us at the start of the season but I worked very hard to understand this bike and I finally returned to victory. It’s great to win in front of your fellow countrymen and it was a special victory because it is the first for me in France. It was a perfect weekend for me and my team. “
