Deniz Öncü returns to AJO Motorsport while Jose Antonio Rueda will make his debut in the class, after becoming Junior GP champion.

Red Bull KTM AJO have confirmed their Moto3 lineup for the 2023 season. The team will feature two riders who combine youth, experience and talent in search of good results. Deniz Öncü will participate in his fourth season in the Moto3 World Championship, while Jose Antonio Rueda will debut off the back of having become JuniorGP champion.

Deniz Öncü, a regular in the class, returns to Red Bull KTM AJO. He competed for the structure in the Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2018 and 2019. He also competed in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, finishing fourth in 2017 and runner-up in 2018. The Turkish rider has been one of the outstanding performers this season, with a podium and three pole positions. He currently occupies fifth in the overall standings. The team’s goal is to fight for the title in 2023 with Öncü.

Jose Antonio Rueda has enjoyed a near-perfect season and has simultaneously contested the Junior GP and the Red Bull Rookies Cup series. He was crowned 2022 Junior GP champion at Misano, with two races remaining of the season and having accumulated five wins, three podiums and three pole positions. He also has the chance to become Red Bull Rookies Cup champion. At 16 years old, the Spaniard is one of the most promising riders in motorsport, and he joins the perfect team at which to continue his development.

“The 2022 season is not over yet, but we are very happy to announce our Moto3 riders for 2023. Deniz returns to the team after sharing some very good years with us in the FIM CEV and some Grand Prix wildcards in 2018 and 2019. He is doing very well in Moto3 and I think we can achieve great things together. Jose Antonio Rueda will be our other rider: He has shown great potential not only in Junior GP, where he was crowned champion this year, but also in the Rookies Cup. We have seen that he is one of those riders who has great talent. We believe that the combination of an experienced rider and a young one fits very well with our philosophy.”

“I’m very happy to return to this team, after the years we shared in what is now Junior GP. I think we will be able to do very good things together in 2023 and we will fight for the title. I want to thank Aki and KTM for this opportunity, I am sure that this new stage of career will add to my experience and I will be able to grow as a rider together with them.”

“I’m very happy to join Red Bull KTM Ajo. It is a dream come true to be able to debut in the Moto3 World Championship and compete as part of a team like this. We will face the season with great enthusiasm, and give our all in every race. It will be a year for learning, but I am confident that I will achieve the best results possible.”

Red Bull KTM AJO Riders Jaume Masia & Daniel Holgado

Current riders Jaume Masia and Daniel Holgado are already running Sprint Filter air filters this season with great success!

Jaume Masia was born on October 31st, 2000 in Algemesi, Spain. His passion for motorcycle racing runs in his family, since his father competed in various championships in Valencia, Spain and Europe. He passed a passion for two wheels on to his son, who received his first bike when he was five years old.

In 2009, Masia won his first title in the Valencia Mini Motorcycle Championship and would win the 140cc class in the Cuna de Campeones the following year. It would be in 2014 that he made his debut on the international stage, participating in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, before moving to the FIM CEV the following season.

After two campaigns in which he took continuous steps forward, in 2017 the Spaniard finished second in the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship, with a total of 6 podiums and a first victory in Aragon. That same year, he also made his debut in the Moto3 World Championship, where he sprung a surprise by setting the fastest lap and finishing 9th at the Austrian Grand Prix. In addition, Masia participated in the British, San Marino and Aragon GPs.

In 2018 the Spanish talent contested his first full season in the Moto3 World Championship, regularly obtaining results close to the top and racking up two fastest laps. Jaume Masia was named Rookie of the Year in the class.

The 2019 season would confirm his talent and progress. The young Spaniard achieved his first victory at the Grand Prix of Argentina and a further three podiums in Austin, Mugello and Sepang, showing he was a fast rider capable of fighting at the front.

Jaume Masia was one of the men to beat in 2020. Despite difficult circumstances and an atypical calendar, he was fast throughout the season and constantly in the fight for wins. He ended the year with two victories, three podiums, two fastest laps and a pole position, placing 6th in the overall standings.

In 2021, Jaume Masia joined Red Bull KTM Ajo in the Moto3 class, for a season that saw him claim one win and three podium finishes. This season, the Spaniard will attempt to mount a title challenge in his sophomore second season with the team. Masia approaches the 2022 campaign with plenty of optimism and desire to continue achieving success.

Dani Holgado was born in Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Alicante, Spain, on May 27th, 2005. The Spanish rider inherited his love of motorcycle riding from his father, who would take him to circuits to show him his hobby.

At the age of six, Holgado began his career in motorcycle racing. His early years saw him win championships and promotion cups.

2015 saw a big step forward in his career, competing in the Moto4 Spanish Championship. In his rookie season, he finished in the third position and was runner-up the next year.

Holgado moved to the Pre-Moto3 category in 2017, a season that he ended in the sixth position. In 2018 he arrived in the FIM CEV to compete in the European Talent Cup, earning 11th in that competition.

In 2019, the Spaniard was promoted to the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship, a springboard to top-level competition. In his debut season, Holgado finished in a solid sixth place. The following year, 2020, he ended in the fifth position, as well as participating for the first time in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and claiming fifth.

It was in 2021 that Holgado established himself as a great talent, winning the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship. He also claimed third place in the overall standings of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. In terms of World Championship experience, he made his first appearances at the Catalunya Grand Prix and the Algarve Grand Prix as a stand-in rider.

In 2022, Holgado joins Red Bull KTM Ajo for his first full season as a World Championship rider. He feels prepared for this new stage in his career and for further growth as a rider.
